The alchemy of creating the perfect guitar has always been sort by the wisest of men and those very wise people at Martin have managed to do just that, their secret…..time travel. Drawing inspiration from the masters of the past and making guitars the old way has lead Martin to create the new Authentic range.
Historically accurate throughout thanks to the clever eggheads at the Smithsonian Institute and their very clever CAT scan machine, Martin was able to take a selection of guitars from the 30’s and 40’s from their prestigious museum and create a detailed blueprint to work from.
The 1941 and 1931 D-28’s are made with an Adirondack spruce tops and Madagascan rosewood back and sides, the 1939 D-18 has genuine mahogany back and sides, all constructed with animal hide glue. The 1931 D-28 has authentic scalloped X bracing and 1941 D-28 and 1939 D-18 have scalloped rear shifted X bracing all with ebony fingerboards and bridges. Each model has a barrel and heel neck shape true to the period and Waverly machine heads.
With such an attention to detail Martin have taken making reissue guitars to a whole new level and way beyond anything we have seen before, to put it bluntly it’s the most authentic reissue ever made.
